Gosens Appointed Ambassador!

Outstanding young Australian and inspirational speaker, Gerrard Gosens, has been appointed Australia Day Ambassador for Longreach.

Gerrard is recognized as one of the most outstanding young people in Australia today with achievements in sporting and academic fields. Congenitally blind, Gerrard became Australia’s youngest Guide Dog recipient at the age of sixteen. As well as commendable academic achievements, Gerrard has succeeded at the highest level in sport, having represented Australia at the Atlanta, Sydney and Beijing Paralympics in the 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m and the marathon.

Gerrard is the Special Projects Manger for ‘Vision Australia’, and is constantly looking for ways to improve the lives of the children who are blind. He was named as Young Queenslander of the Year in 1995.
